The next stop on the list of GoodEats is quite the exceptional one. R & R Taqueria is the name, and it’s hands down the Holy Grail for authentic Mexican food lovers. The restaurants original location is off of Washington Boulevard in Elkridge, MD., but recently they expanded to a second location off of Perry Hall Blvd. This was the one I had the pleasure to enjoy.
I have to start this recommendation off by talking about the décor and staff. Located in a beautiful strip mall, the restaurants red an
d green fluorescent sign is hard to miss. Once you open the door, a heavenly aroma fills your nose along with a pleasant greeting from one of the employees. The first thing that catches your eye is the awards scattered on the walls from every big name critic in the area.
The menu is extensive, including both tasty breakfast items with a Mexican flare and a long list of lunch/dinner items. I was directed towards the highlighted items on the menu, which Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives host Guy Fieri indulged in during his visit. There were quite a few highlighted items, but I chose the Carne en Pasilla and Tacos al Pastor. Once my order was placed, I watched the staff start preparing my meal with fresh and house-made ingredients.
After a short ten minute wait my order was finally ready and it looked as good as it smelled. After the first bite of the Carne en Pasilla, I was a changed man. It was perfect, a true symphony of flavors. The meat tasted like it had been slow cooking for hours. I enjoyed each bite as much as the last. The complexity of flavors put my taste buds into a whirlwind.
Secondly, I enjoyed the Tacos al Pastor. I was speechless. It was amazing, with an unbelievable complex combination of flavors and spices all wrapped up into a homemade tortilla.
The whole menu looked so appetizing. The best part about the restaurant is how affordable all of the menu items are. R & R Taqueria was a family-run restaurant exceeded all expectations!
Please give this restaurant a try. It was truly incredible.
Until next time. I wish you GoodEats!
